Bug Description

Recent gettext releases [1] include built-in support for Glade 3, JavaScript, Lua, Vala, .desktop entries, and GSettings file formats, and improve support for Guile 2.0 and Scheme. It would be great if next intltool release could use native gettext scanners instead of its own.

These formats are now natively supported by gettext.

Add JavaScript, Lua and Vala to $buildin_gettext_support

intltool is unmaintained upstream and it currently has a couple of bugs that are very problematic. One of them is that various formats are not detected by intltool-update:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/intltool/+bug/544445

https://bugs.launchpad.net/intltool/+bug/1039983

I have submitted a simple patch that fixes the issue, but it is unlikely to get merged and released:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/intltool/+bug/1325597

I'm asking to include the patch in the Fedora package.

Changed in intltool (Debian):
status: Unknown → New
Changed in intltool (Fedora):
importance: Unknown → Undecided
status: Unknown → Confirmed
