Bug Description

I have not find a procedure for DIRECTLY printing a SVG Dawing on my HP B110A wifi printer-scaner with the menu's "file" option "print". For making that, i must register the drawing file in PDF format and the printing is then OK.
Perhaps, un plugin must be installed for this type of printer ?
Many thanks for your answer.

which OS, and which version of Inkscape?

The version of Inkscape has been installed on my PC with "Inkscape-0.48.0-1.exe" program under Windows 7. I have dowloaded the installation's program "Inkscape-0.48.2-1-win32.exe" but not yet intalled. I will go to see.

I confirm that with the new version, Inkscape does not print with the option 'Print' of the menu 'file' and I go back a step registration in format PDF for making this.

- when you go to Start->Control Panel->Devices and Printers, does your WiFi printer show up as a device?
- In Inkscape, when you go to File->Print, does your WiFi printer show up as a device?
- if so, have you set it to be the default device?

For your three questions I answer yes, since Adobe Acrobat Reader can print the PDF file generated by Inkscape. That is why I am not affected by this bug. My message is only like a feedback.

so, what happens when you select the WiFi printer from inside the Inkscape print dialog, and click on the Print button?
For example, does a printer icon show up on the Windows taskbar at the bottom right hand corner of the screen?

When i select the WiFi printer from inside the Inkscape print dialog, and click on the Print button, the file is sended to the printer as she makes some nose with his head and stops after a short elapse time but nothing is printed out.

Yes, the printer icon is shown on the Windows taskbar and when i click on it, the printer's window shows an spool entry which goes out immediatly.

On printer's side, es is like if she doesn't understand the sended langage codification and ignores it. Then she stays stand by.

yes, this sounds like a problem in the communication protocol. Somewhat off topic, perhaps, but it appears that this printer probably supports a USB wired connection, have you tried that with Inkscape, just for curiosity? I am wondering if there might be different options that could be chosen in the driver, depending on whether it is USB or WiFi.

For this moment, I am not able to make the test because I have not my USB printer next to me. I will test on my return in a month. However, until now, the printer works correctly with all applications that I use except with Inkscape (latest version 0.48 installed there is not even a week). I am suggesting that it would be rather in Inkscape there is a configuration parameter to adjust, especially perhaps (?) Uncheck "activate HP Real Life Technologies' (I do not know what this is !...). On my return, I will contact you.

I point out that Inskape prints on the only USB connected printer-scanner Lexmark X2670 of my daughter.

I contacted the HP support because I have the same problem with my HP Photosmart B110a. They told me to try an alternative "PCL" printer driver. I was told to try one of the following compatible drivers:

Deskjet 6500 Series
Deskjet 6980 Series
Desket 990c Series
Officejet Pro K550 Series

I installed the "Deskjet 6500 Series" driver and it works. Also this is not the solution of the bug, we now have a workaround.

are you still using a WiFi connection with this PCL driver, or is it USB?

No ! the connection is under Wifi for multiconnections and I don't use the USB one. After returning at home, I will try the USB connection but I'm not so interesting by. Otherwise, I'm not sure that USB and WIFI work together. I will see that.
I can tell you that I did not intall the'HP Printer Control Language' driver because I did not know its existence for the INK printers. I thought that it was reserved for LASER printers (1980).
In addition, did the PCL driver work with a USB connection ?
Thomas Wölfer has tested the 'Deskjet 6500 Series' driver which runs.

I intalled the USB connection for my HP B110 printer. The two connections WIFI and USB are operational together and run correctly with the softwares that I have installed EXCEPT INKSCAPE.
I am not affected by this mal function. I don't need to print from Inskscape directly. In other way, I can work by utilizing PDF.

Otherwise, this is a bigger problem with uniconvertor used by Inkscape.

Very probably a duplicate of #531342 "HP Color Printer-deletes print job before printing" (the wifi connection doesn't seem to be part of the bug). Don't hesitate to comment if you thing this is a different issue.
