Bug Description
Opening the attached file slow-inkscape with Inkscape 0.47 r22583 as well as Inkscape 0.48.1 r9760 (Jun 21 2011) built from source on Ubuntu 10.04 takes so long that I couldn't wait for it to finish. File fast-inkscape.svg loads just fine. The program to generate both files is also included.

Not reproduced with Inkscape 0.47, 0.48.0, 0.48.1 and 0.48+devel (r10325, 10330) on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (i386):
File 'test2.svg' opens without noticeable delay, as fast as 'fast-inkscape.
(tested with custom and default preferences)

Could you give a hint what "so long" could be (secs, minutes)?
