Feature Request: dragging a single object around within its clip, without having to group it first

Bug Description

To be able to drag an object around behind its clip, as well as to be able to past new object into the clip, the single object must be "grouped" before it is clipped. It would be nice if a single object was "grouped" automatically when it is clipped.

Why automatically? I'd rather have this optionally. But imho the discussion how to best implement further or refined features for clipping masks could stay with the originating bug #394475.

Are there uses/reasons for not having the clipped object automatically "grouped"? I may be only seeing the benefit of an auto grouping without realizing the reasons for not wanting it to be.

I'm definitely not opposed to my "bug" being discussed within the one you propose it be discussed in, but the reason I started a new "bug" is because I thought my "bug" different from the bug you suggested. First, because the OP confused me just as were some of the other commenters confused. Secondly, because while the discussion did become about "paste inside," it was more about whether or not it could be done. It was communicated in that bug that it can be done, which I suspected would effectively close that discussion (?). So, I figured my thought, an intended refinement of clipping, would be less buried under the initial confusion of that bug. Perhaps in error, I felt my suggestion stood alone as a new request rather than a continuation of the discussion of how to do something inkscape already does. Even so, I may be wrong that it would be better for the auto grouping to occur, if there are benefits to it not being auto grouped when a clip is set.
