Bug Description
The align and distribute dialog doesn't let you specify the "relative to" node (known bug #171287).
The problem in this revision is that the align dialog seems broken because the first time you get the whole dialog (node-specific options included) and later you get just the node-specific options. Is not consistent with itself.
First, the named bug should be solved; in the meanwhile the dialog should present just the available options to the user. Is really confusing having many options that won't work (the user doesn't know if it is a bug or what).
Steps:
1- Select two nodes.
2-Call the Align... dialog. Observe how all the options appear.
3-Align the nodes vertically.
4-Close dialog.
5-Deselect nodes.
6-Select again.
7-Call dialog again. Observe the lack of options (just node options).
I can't determine what causes this. If it doesn't happen at first, repeat steps 3-7 until you make it.
OS: Win XP.

Confirmed on Windows XP, Inkscape rev.21881.
You don't need to repeat, just select the selection tool and then the node tool between steps 5 and 6.
