Bug Description

Perhaps it will be interresting to have a preview or an example of clone tiling before clicking on the button?

One quick question: how do you suggest the clones should be displayed in configurations of a lot of rows and columns?

This would be nice. If it just showed a maximum of a 4 x 4 grid that would still help visualize the different options.

I would prefer an on-canvas live preview (like the interpolate extension for instance), and filed a feature request here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1486903 : live preview for tiled clones.
Please do not mark it as a duplicate, a live preview on canvas is not at all the same as an in-dialog preview of the function in general.
