Spaces aren't allowed there.

What Inkscape could do, however, is fixing this kind of issues by renaming the id name automatically. E.g. replace spaces with underscores and - if a collision occurs - adding numbers.

It could indeed be good to be tolerant to faulty svg, feel free to close this bug if this is already the case
