I can not reproduce the issue in Inkscape 0.92.2 on Windows 10.
Could you please attach a sample SVG which triggers the crash for you?

Hope this gets back.

Attached. HOWEVER.... open the drawing... select the node tool... select
the rectangle (with node tool) and ctrl-click on top right (top edge) node
- error. HOWEVER...

Open drawing. Select the rectangle using select tool. THEN choose node tool
and then ctrl-click the node and all is fine!

Create new drawing. Create rectangle. Select node tool. ctrl-click node and
error.

Strange indeed. I think I'll completely remove all Inkscape and
reinstall.... watch this space.

Best regards
Hugh

Okay - removed entirely and reinstalled - error no longer present. Might
have something to do with the electrical/electronic extensions that I had
installed (with extreme difficulty I might add... using 64bit version.

Might be 64bit version and those extensions have an issue?

Hugh

I'm not sure what extension you are referring to, a typical Inkscape script extension (using e.g. Python code) is not able to crash Inkscape or modify it in a way that makes Inkscape crash.

However if the extension modifies any binaries in the Inkscape directory it might be problematic.

If I had to guess I assume you reset preferences upon re-installing - a problematic entry (e.g. invalid values in default attributes) in preferences can sometimes cause this.

Changed in inkscape:
status: New → Invalid

Inconsistently reproduced in Win8.1 64 bit, Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06).

Crash with error when crtl+drag on horizontal radius handle when conditions are met:
horizontal radius is greater then 1/2 rectangle height, any amount of vertical radius greater than zero, node tool used to manipulate horizontal radius.

Vertical radius handle will move below rectangle midpoint to equal horizontal distance and Inkscape will crash.

We need a reliable way to reproduce this. For me:
- Ctrl+Drag properly limits the handle on the longer side
so it can not move further than half the length of the
  shorter side
- Ctrl+Click on the handle on the longer size potentially
moves the handle on the shorter side to an "illegal" position
(i.e. more than half the shorter length from the corner
or even outside the rect) however this does not crash Inkscape.
