I think some kind of library or gallery of objects would be a really nice addition.
You should be able to drag and drop to and from the gallery and also import objects from different filetypes like svg, ttf, pdf, etc.
The gallery itself could be saved as an svg file with groups for every gallery object and some text as a caption.

I think that there's a tip (possibly in the wiki) about this ... basically you can drag and drop items from an import dialog. So if you do File > Import and point it at a directory of your own stored svg files you can pick files and drop them on to the current canvas. Not quite what you're after but I think it's pretty close too.
