Confirmed again (as #30) for 0.92.4 on Ubuntu 18.04.

The workaround shown by #5 and #26 is to have the 'Text and Font...' box closed all the time – even at startup. You can at least use the tools in top menu bar.

I am just mentioning this again in case it got lost in the discussion.
