Can't edit multiple paths with Path Effects dialog

Path effects dialog doesn't allow to modify two or more paths at the same time. It makes working with complex drawings very annoying and time consuming.

I use path effect dialog to adjust patterns along paths and dealing with it is a pain in my neck. I used to copy path with applied and adjusted effect and then paste path effect on other paths to improve my workflow but it requires some intermediate stages.
