Bug Description

I can change the colour of the note, define categories, but I cannot insert any text, so these notes are not usable

Could you elaborate? What happens when you try to insert text? Do you see a cursor but no next when you type, or do you not a cursor at all?

Can you create new notes and delete existing notes?

Could not find a way to delete my note, so I add this comment: look at the attached screenshot, the mouse pointer changes to a cursor for input of text, but I cannot write anything, I can place this cursor wherever I want, but no character with the keyboard can be entered.

I might try installing Lubuntu on a virtual machine. However, could you confirm that you face the same issue in 15.04? Please note that 14.10 is not supported anymore (end of life was reached on July 23, 2015). https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-announce/2015-July/000197.html

I have been using Lubuntu for a long time, always the most recent version. But strangely enough, in April the update to 15.04 did not work, I only got a blank screen, there was no way to fix it, so I had to reinstall 14.10. Now I am hoping that in October the next update will work, perhaps then Stickynotes will also work. I will report as soon as I have updated to 15.10. Regards

Has this happened ever since you upgraded to 14.10 back in 2014 or is this more recent. Did this begin with the new version of stickynotes (0.5.0)?

I have discovered stickynotes only two weeks ago in a German Linux magazine, so I don't know if it is a problem of the new version.

Alright. I will try to see if I can see this issue. In the meanwhile, could you try typing into the black area and then pressing Ctrl + a (select all) and Ctrl + c (copy). Then open a text editing program (gedit, for example) and paste (Ctrl + v). My guess is that the problem is with the background color/text color.

When typing into the black area, I don't see anything. When pressing Ctrl + a, the text appears in yellow letters. When I continue typing without moving the mouse, only the new text appears after Ctrl + a. When I move the cursor into the black area, the text disappears, then typing new text and after Ctrl + a the old text and the new text appear.
Moving the cursor into the black area makes both texts disappear, but with Ctrl + a they both show up again, so finally I can now use stickynotes, even though it is strange that I cannot see my typing, I have to type "blind" and see the result later.
I am curious if in October with version 15.10 things will be normal.
Thanks for your help.

Yes, the issue is that the text area has a black background, which it should not, and the text color is also black. If you want to fix this issue, you can change the text color to white. To make things aesthetically pleasing, you can change the color of your notes to black, so that the text area does not look weird.

I will try to upload a workaround for you to try. If that works, I'll release a new version.

Is this fixed for you in the latest version? If so, I'll mark it as a duplicate of #1019380.
