Bug Description

Sometimes, when I'm on a limited Internet plan, I look at the network graph and I see that it is quite full, but there should not be any heavy download at the moment. I become a bit shocked, click on the icon, and I see that actual download speed is very low: about 10 KB/sec, but it is displayed as full graph because scale is adaptive.

This is a bit annoying, since when I see full graph, I can't be sure, if there is really some heavy download, or not; so I have to interrupt from my current task, click on the icon, read value.

So, it would be very nice if I'm able to set minimum scale for the network graph. Say, I would set it to 500 KB/sec, for me.

Could you please add this feature in your indicator-multiload?

you can set the variables with dconf >apps>indicator>multiload.

Amok, thank you very much, I've set multiload/graphs/net/minimum to 500000 and maximum to 10000000, it seems it is what I need. Thanks again!

in the version available in the ppas (ppa:~indicator-multiload/stable and ppa:~indicator-multiload/daily), you can use the advanced preferences dialog to change the variables.

Michael, thanks, I tried it, but actually new version 0.4 works very buggy on my Linux Mint 13; previous one (0.3) works just perfectly.

What exactly is buggy: for some reason, the width of all the graphs is fixed (about 30 pixels, it seems). So, when I try to increase width, I got height decreased, instead! (because resulting width is larger than 30 pixels, and the whole image is scaled down)

I use 2 monitors: CPU and Network, I have width parameter set to 20 pixels. So, on version 0.3, I have two monitors, each of them 20 pixels. Plus spacing, so, total width is about 45 pixels, and height is a full height of my taskbar. But on 0.4 with the same settings I have total width about 30 pixels, and height is significantly less than full height of the taskbar. The picture is scaled down. Just to make sure, I just set width to 100 px, so, resulting is a picture of the same width (about 30 pixels) and very small height, just a thin line.

Maybe would be a good idea to add an option to make the indicators use logarithmic scales. Is pretty common and useful on beautiful world of graph, particularly in cases as stated on this bug! Reference: xkcd.com/1162 :)
