Bug Description
If you set a personal status message in Pidgin, then change your status from the status indicator in the buddy list window itself, it retains your message. But if you use the fast user switching applet or notification area icon, Pidgin removes your status message.
While I'm using a Pidgin version I compiled myself (not the Ubuntu package), I'm pretty sure that I've already wondered earlier (when I used the Ubuntu package) why my status message was gone.

True, you can have several customized status messages, and you can assign them to a specific state (online/busy etc). But, these messages don't appear in the fast-user- switching- applet, so you can't select them. If you set a status message for "available" in pidgin, and then set status to "away" in fusa, then set the status back to "available" with fusa, the default status for available is used(the one without a message). It should default to the last used status message instead. OR the customized status messages should appear in fusa, so we can choose between them.
I am using pidgin 1:2.5.2-0ubuntu1 in Intrepid up-to-date. switch- applet 2.24.0-0ubuntu6.
