Using Ubuntu Xenial 64 bit
also tried with the latest 4.5 linux kernel with no different result.
I am using a Dell latitude e5500 laptop here.
The fan is always quietly turning. Even when the machine is not hot.
After I install the i8kutils from the repositories the fan goes a little up and down all the time. But after I activate smm and put in a i8kmon.conf file the cooling system does EXACTLY what it is supposed to do. 100% correct.
But at the same time the machine is unable to go in suspension (to ram).
