Bug Description

gpg-encrypted files (e.g. with right click in nautilus and "encrypt") have no icon assigned to them. double-clicking launches seahorse by default and allows me to decrypt them, they only lack a decent icon...

tested with an up-to-date hardy release.

We had a discussion on #ubuntu-bugs about this bug. Initially we thought it would be a wishlist (Icons were not available). Closer inspection showed that seahorse already provide the icons (at /usr/share/pixmaps/seahorse), so what is needed is to register them. Of course, the MIME actions are already provided.

Also opened against kgpg, since there is no icon shown with it either (but I do not know if there *is* an icon provided, as in seahorse).

well, calling dolphin instead of nautilus shows the icon.

Where is kgpg supposed to show that icon?

Actually, it is Nautilus that should show the icon. I know the icon is there somewhere, because dolphin shows it.

When kgpg is installed, it adds the necessary MIME actions (or, at least, the decrypt action), but no icon. This is certainly an issue with seahorse (since seahorse *is* Gnome) but, for the sake of consistency, kgpg should do the same.

I do not know which KDE package the icons come... Kleopatra? I do not know, also if this would be considered to be an issue for KDE (but I think it should, for completeness: some users, myself included, run a mix of KDE and Gnome applications).

I think, if I understood you correctly, that the problem is really just that whatever icon theme you are using in GNOME, is missing the appropriate mimetype icon for encrypted content, which got really nothing to do with kgpg or KDE at all.

Here's what needs to be done:

An icon for application/pgp-encrypted mimetype needs to be created. None of the icons found in /usr/share/pixmaps/seahorse/ are suitable, as none of them represent an encrypted file. This icon should follow Tango icon theme guidelines. It should be installed under /usr/share/icons/hicolor/ and shipped with seahorse's package.

The same icon needs to be created but following Humanity's style. It should be installed under /usr/share/icons/Humanity and /usr/share/icons/Humanity-Dark and shipped with humanity-icon-theme's package.

In the changelog it says the icons are removed from the seahorse package and are moved to the seahorse-utils package. I'll check if they are in there and get installed.

Bart,

The regular icons for Seahorse ARE still installed with Seahorse. Not sure if they're installed with 'seahorse-utils' or not, but they _are_ in the source package. Also, are there any icon proposals as of yet?
