Bug Description

Once again, I accidentally opened Rhythmbox and it started importing a lot of something—I don't know what.

Since I prefer to have control over what parts of my computer Rhythmbox uses, I opened 'Rhythmbox Preferences' ▸ 'Music' with the intention of dissuading it from rampaging through whatever location it has defaulted to. Frustratingly, all Rhythmbox chooses to reveal to me about its automated behavior is:

Music files are placed in: Multiple locations set

When I click 'Browse' and open a location of my preference (~/sandbox), nothing changes. Rhythmbox still displays:

Music files are placed in: Multiple locations set

Even as I write this its progress bar is bouncing away, doing... something. I have no idea what it's doing.

Also using 2.96-0ubuntu4.1 under Ubuntu 12.04.

The behaviour described by Andrew is also described by 'miper' at https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=126492

Using dconf-editor and setting org.gnome.rhythmbox.rhythmdb/locations to a single location (e.g. ['file:///home/serah/Music']) doesn't alter Rhythmbox's reporting "Multiple locations set" in Rhythmbox's Preferences dialog.

I'm not sure if it's actually monitoring multiple locations or if this is just a bug, but I think the following are all suitable solutions:

1. Monitor only a single location for music.
2. Redo the interface for managing monitored locations. A "plus" button should be added, which will add a new entry to a list of locations being watched, rather than having them all in the one text field.

In dconf-editor I can see it's monitoring my local "Music" folder as well as ".ubuntuone/Purchased from Ubuntu One", so I'm guessing option 1 isn't going to work.

Option 2 it is then. Thanks for investigating that.

This would be best if it was enclosed within it's own dialog so that if the
user was monitoring a significant number of locations, the existing
settings dialog won't become insane.

I've asked the Rhythmbox devs to give some feedback on the Paper Cuts we're
looking at, so we'll see what they think.

It is still present in 13.04... and I wonder if part of the reason could be purchased music. Ubuntu One doesn't store its music in the Music folder. So Multiple Locations "are" set.
