Bug Description

Installed HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A and the device consistently locks up when scanning three or more gray pages from the flatbed (not document feeder). The AIO scans the image/page, but hangs after scanning, but before displaying the image on the screen. The AIO displays "Scanning" on its screen.

I replicated this using XSane Image Scanner and gscan2pdf (which uses xsane) -- this is easier to replicate using gscan2pdf b/c all of the images are right there in the application, not all over your screen. To replicate, open
gscan2pdf, make sure that you are scanning gray @ 100dpi, and scan one page, then another one, and if the AIO did not lock up yet, scan another one.

See below for output from my Syslog right around when the event occurred. This time the lockup occurred using XSane Image Scanner while scanning one page in color:

Some more information: I am able to replicate the issue only using a USB connection. I am unable to replicate the bug when using the 8500A over LAN. I also verified that the scanning resolution and color/gray selections do not matter.

We are also seeing the problem using USB but after scanning 8-10 times. I will be working to find out the issue.
