Bug Description

I had an Officejet J6480 which worked great in Linux -- I remember that when I wanted to print a borderless picture I would select one of the fullbleed options. I upgraded to an Office Jet Pro L7680 and found that when installed the printer did not have a full bleed option. In fact, half the time (literally) I try to print any picture on the printer it reboots itself.

I know the printer has fullbleed capabilities, and is a photo printer, but it refuses to reliably print pictures (from F-spot, from Gimp, or from Eye of Gnome). In CUPs and the HP Device manager there simply is no full bleed option.

Having now installed Hardy -- this printer simply refuses to print in linux at all. It works perfectly in windows, and prints nice photos from the built in card reader. It freezes every time I turn on my computers, and always has the status "processing" when i go to print something -- but a visit to the web page shows there is nothing processing.

I bought an HP because of its supposed linux support, only to find that there is no technical support by phone.

I am also interested in this bug. It would be very nice to have it fixed by the Intrepid Ibex release. I notice this bug was filed 4 months ago with no replies

OH yes please fix this bug as soon as possible.
If I select Photo paper type the printer just crashes.

Hello,

I tested the latest driver: 3.9.2 under Kubuntu 8.10 and I was able to print a Photo :)
I did not do more tests for the moment but printing a photo was a major concern.

Thank you very much.

Thierry.

I now installed the latest Kubunutu 11.10 oneiric with HPLIP 3.11.7
and I get the same problem.

Was the fix only checked-in for a signle release ?

It would be nice to have this fixed when upgrading or installing a new PC.

I am not able to install the 3.9.2. even after I installed some more GCC libraries, automake ...

I can confirm this.

With kubuntu precise and hplip 3.12.2/3.12.4 the printer crash when photo printing is selected.
This worked before.
