2023-01-05 16:27:03 FeRD (Frank Dana) attachment added Screenshot of HPLIP About dialog, on Fedora 37 with Adwaita Dark interface theme https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2002010/+attachment/5639373/+files/hplip-about-dialog.png
2023-01-05 16:28:00 FeRD (Frank Dana) description I was urged to put the HPLIP developers in touch with the Python Software Foundation's trademark cops, because the use of the Python Powered logo in HPLIP's "About" dialog requires their approval due to the alterations made to the image. (Specifically, it looks like the original logo image was made background-transparent — very, very sloppily, in a way that looks awful in dark interface themes — and ANY use of altered versions of the images requires their approval. I don't doubt they'll give said approval, though they may demand that the transparency be redone in a way that doesn't look so terrible. But, still, based on their policy it's necessary to ask. They can be emailed at psf-trademarks@python.org for approval requests or guidance. See original the discussion which prompted this report, along with screenshots of why the current logo use is a problem, here: https://discuss.python.org/t/dark-background-cleaner-official-logo-variations/21971 Actually, I'll attach the screenshot (which shows HPLIP running in Fedora 37 with its Adwaita Dark interface theme) here as well.
