I have the same problem: the printer is installed but no job leaves the print queue.
I upgraded a Ubuntu installation to 18.04.1 LTS, and hplip to 3.18.7. A HP LaserJet M1132 Multifunction Printer is detected and configured properly. hp-check shows no errors nor warnings. A test page sent via Cups stays in the print job list with state "Filter failed". In /var/log/ cups/error_ log I see basically the same as mishgun:
