Hi Stefan,
Arch Linux is not supported distro for HPLIP drivers. Can you please confirm on which distro version you downgraded to 3.17.10 and it worked? Ideally the 3.17.10 hplip driver will not work in Arch Linux.

Thanks,
Shivani

Hi Shivani,

  To confirm:
- the distro I've used and the hplip drivers have worked on for months and months is Archlinux.

Archlinux is the same distro where I've downgraded to 3.17.10 and the drivers from version 3.17.10 work.

On the "not supported distro" statement:
- does this mean that you won't investigate or try to reproduce or fix this issue because I'm not running the distro that you support ?

Thanks,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

We will fix all the issues which improves HPLIP quality and helps users in continuing to use HPLIP. The supported (or tier-1) distro's get higher priority.

Hi,

i can confirm the issue with ubuntu 18.04. All packages are up-to-date.
The only message in the logs is "prnt/backend/hp.c 919: ERROR: null print job total=0".

My hplip version is 3.17.10+repack0-5. The printer is a "Officejet Pro 6830".

Can I provide further information to you?

Regards,
David

I just removed the ubuntu package and installed hplip 3.18.9 from https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/gethplip.
The problem still exists.

Bumped into the same issue, with hplip 3.18.12 on Debian stable -- https://packages.debian.org/buster/hplip.

The problem was fixde by upgrading to version 3.20.9, currently in buster-backports.

Damien
