Bug Description

Hi all,

I just re-read all the posts of #661166. The recent world events we are going through have made me think a lot about many subjects.

I have often wanted to get started in this Android development, and I am thinking again about this (just thinking for now, don't get too much enthusiastic for the moment).

Also, my reflection also explore the profitability of my time, although I have no idea of the number of current HomeBank desktop app users (yes you read it well: I do not) and even less I have no idea of those among that will use this potential mobile app. But as you know, everyone known, it is not a secret, the open source donation model is far from being satisfactory with regard to the time invested. I am graceful and thank every donator of course. But still.

The last post here asks if someone would like to do "something". Well let's be clear, with question of this type, I doubt that anyone feels invested in such an unknown or as vague mission.

So, let's start from a blank sheet here and build a feature list this mobile application MUST / SHOULD / COULD have (in that priority).

And regarding the process, let fit things in the following way, for your request:

rule1: DON'T LIST A FEATURE ALREADY POSTED BY PEOPLE that replied before you.
rule2: prefix with MUST: SHOULD: COULD: (in that order)
rule3: for each MUST/SHOULD/COULD: describe 2 or 3 feature briefly (just a title don't write a novel here)
rule4: try to be clear, understandable and concise
rule5: DON'T LIST A FEATURE ALREADY POSTED BY PEOPLE that replied before you.

At the end, we will see with more clarity and could appreciate if it is a matter of climbing a hill, or... the Everest :)

Max.

Bonjour Maxime.

Best regards.

Claire Lauvergne.

Hi Max,
I am very interested in an Android app.
So I think that these functions should be that in the beginning:

MUST: Be able to read and write original HB-file
MUST: Overview of accounts and account balances on the home page
MUST: Add and edit transactions

SHOULD: Delete transactions
SHOULD: Add and edit accounts

COULD: Sync HB-file via Google-Drive or DropBox
COULD: Transactions between two accounts
COULD: Graphical evaluations

Hello Maxime,

The basic for me is add daily transactions out of office and then sync/download to the main app.

MUST: Support Android and iOS
MUST: Add transactions and export later

SHOULD: 2-way sync via WEBDAV
SHOULD: Search transactions

COULD: Access security (PIN / fingerprint)
COULD: Attach receipt (photo)
COULD: Read bank transactions via API [1]

Hello Maxime,
is there any news about this project yet?

Shouldn't this request also be linked in HomeBank for Android?

This seems to be the most recent thread concerning HomeBank and Android. If I should post elsewhere, my apologies. In reading these posts, I am also interested in an Android version of this app. One main concern seems to be time vs profitability along with the current donation model, which is understandable. Maxime (or whoever) must invest a lot of time and effort to make this awesome app available on mobile with significant features included. Someone referenced GPL2 in a linked thread and keeping the software free. While open source mentions "free" everywhere, I understand that this is frequently misunderstood as free software. From the GPL2 page at https://opensource.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.php:

"When we speak of free software, we are referring to freedom, not price. Our General Public Licenses are designed to make sure that you have the freedom to distribute copies of free software (and charge for this service if you wish), that you receive source code or can get it if you want it, that you can change the software or use pieces of it in new free programs; and that you know you can do these things."

I only bring this detail up for open discussion amongst this community (and Maxime's final decision). I'd be willing to pay a reasonable 1-time fee for the mobile app (I am Android).

Hi Maxime,
Are you still working on Android port of this app?

If it's going to take you a lot of time, you can consider sharing some of the code (if you already had made it) so that it will speed things up significantly.
