Bug Description

Everytime I try to run Gwibber rev 654 (from Trunk PPA) in Kubuntu 9.10, I get this error:

AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'rsplit'

Is this some GTK dependency I'm not aware and not listed in the deb package or something else?

No, not a missing dependency. It isn't handling failing to get a value from something that should always have a value. Please run this and let me know what it returns:

gconftool --get /desktop/gnome/interface/font_name

I have the same problem when trying to run the latest development version. The output of

gconftool --get /desktop/gnome/interface/font_name

is:

No value set for `/desktop/gnome/interface/font_name'

I guess this is because I am running KDE (on kubuntu).

Gwibber should use default font if Gnome settings are not specified (this might also refer to other gnome-specific settings)
