Bug Description

The VZ-networks (MeinVZ, StudiVZ, SchülerVZ) are very popular in Germany with millions of users. The VZs are using the OpenSocial API: http://www.opensocial.org/ . An implementation of OpenSocial would allow to send status updates to all the other networks (Xing, LinkedIn, MySpace, ....) as well: http://wiki.opensocial.org/index.php?title=Containers .

Also Hyves, the largest dutch community site supports OpenSocial - I would also love support for OpenSocial in Gwibber.

Orkut, the most important social network site in Brasil and one of the biggest in the world (with more than 100,000,000 registered users), also uses the OpenSocial APIs.

MySpace was and still is one of the biggest social networks, but the plus of opensocial is that it wouldn't just add support for MySpace, but also any other site that uses OpenSocial.

I need "VZ-Netzwerke" in gwibber. That would be great.

The "bug" report about LinkedIn not being supported in Gwibber has been marked as a duplicate of this one: without LinkedIn support as well as Twitter and Facebook support, Gwibber is essentially unusable. The Gwibber way of presenting is however way better than using http://seesmic.com which just seems to take acres of screen space.

i agree, seesmic is just yet another browser page ... the concept of gwibber is appealing .. i hope the status in ubuntu shows different colors for different alerts, like if it is a new message on twitter, it should show red, if it is a message on my chat, maybe green and so on ... but thats possibly ubuntu's enhancement. Currently whenever i see a color, i have to see if there is a new update .. and mostly i dont care about some updates :)

well done gwibber, keep updating and adding more.

Should support the new medias like:
Linkedin
Google+
Myspace
Xing
hi5
netlog
etc...

This will make Gwibbler a superb program with tons of new users.
