Bug Description

Latest/stable channel is pointing right now at version 6.7.4, which is ancient.

Is this snap maintained or abandoned? I would not ask that if it werent marked as snap by Canonical verified account.

Please try to install 7/stable (7.5.17) or ROCK/beta(8.2.7).
There is no smooth way to upgrade from v6 to v7
That's why we do not upgrade the latest channel to v7 now.
But we will add more warning message in the snap (e.g. the latest version will update to v7 soon). Thanks!

Closing as won't fix because grafana 7 is available in a separate snap channel, and because the overall strategy is to migrate to the grafana on k8s container provided by the COS project: https://github.com/canonical/cos-lite-bundle

Changed in grafana-snap:
status: New → Won't Fix
importance: Undecided → Wishlist

But why is there no track for 9 which would follow official releases (currently 9.4.3)? All you say is confirming that this snap is basically abandoned which was my original question. Presence of it in snap store is only misleading and will cause problems for users

I get your point, Marek. The snap is heavily used, even on more ancient tracks than `latest/stable`. It is not a high priority task for us to upgrade it currently, but we're definitely interested in doing so.

If you're interested, you are more than welcome to contribute an update as well! :)

Best,
Simon
