I have this issue on Ubuntu 10.10 64bit. Lenovo thinkpad T400 C2D. The gdesklets shell starts if launched from GUI but she shell is blank (not working).

From command line:

gdesklets
Starting gdesklets-daemon...
Connecting to daemon [ ### ]
==========================================================[10/23/10-17:46:42]===
Could not import tiling module!

Cannot establish connection to daemon: timeout!
The log file might help you solving the problem.

There are no info in the log-files.

First of all: this "so called bug" has been reported a few times. Please use the search function of the bug tracker.

Furthermore this is an Ubuntu related bug. So please report the bug in the appropiate ubuntu bugtracker, like e.g.: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdesklets

Finally: please look there first/too if the "bug" has already been reported.
