Bug Description

I'm not sure if this started today or a few days ago but I just noticed today. Some of my Facebook contacts are not shown with their name anymore but instead a string following the scheme "-<email address hidden>".

It appears upgrading to telepathy-gabble 0.17.5 has fixed the problem for me.

It may be worth getting this update into the stable release.

Hmm, 0.17.5 didn't fix it for me. I installed the package from debian unstable, btw

I've tried compiling 0.17.5 myself, but it doesn't seem to correct the problem.

I am not entirely sure that I installed it correctly, though, is there a way to check that empathy is using the correct telepaty-gabble version?

I've downloaded the 0.17.5 release from here: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/telepathy/telepathy-gabble
To compile I've done

    $ cd /path/to/extracted/src/
    $ ./configure
    $ make
    $ sudo make install

other info:

    $ lsb_release -a
    No LSB modules are available.
    Distributor ID: Ubuntu
    Description: Ubuntu 13.04
    Release: 13.04
    Codename: raring

    $ empathy --version
    Empathy 3.6.4

I use a 64 bit distribution.

 Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #> and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
