Currently the self check interface has no easy way to renew items without the item being present to scan again. It might also be possible to select,copy, paste the item barcodes from the items out screen into the checkout box, but that isn't very easy to use.
We would like an easier method to renew items at the self check.
There are many ways this could be accomplished.
- Selection checkboxes and then buttons that attempt to renew a group of items.
- Per item renewal buttons.
- Renewal mode that sorts items by due date, and allows all items due on a certain date to be renewed at the same time.

Other thoughts
- Show number of renewals left.
- Avoid showing renewal options for titles that cannot be renewed. Give user feedback about why an item cannot be renewed, to reduce staff involvement.
- Respect system settings for "Checkout auto renew age", to avoid triggering renewals too soon.
- Print a receipt showing new due date for eveything renewed.
We use touch screen monitors, so would prefer that all UI elements be big and chunky and easy to use with a touch screen.
If anyone has any ideas about how renewals could work in the self check interface, please share.
