Binary package hint: empathy
When you try to run a command for instance /whois you get a message that says unsupported command. These are basic functions in IRC.

Dear Share, Can you attach or include more details about this problem like version of empathy that you has installed?. I have ubuntu jaunty x86, empathy 2.27.3- 2ubuntu1~ ppa9.04+ 1 and I can confirm that there isn't available some commands for IRC like "whois".
