Bug Description
When resuming from suspend, user session is closed.
Scenario:
I have open applications for work: Chromium, Emacs, etc. I'm using a laptop (ThinkPad T410s).
When I close the lid, system goes to suspend.
When opening the lid, system resumes.
Expected: my user session is active, only locked when resuming; all previously open applications have saved their state, so I can continue working.
What happens: my user session is closed, all my previously open applications are closed, I have lost everything that was not saved.
I recall having seen a bug report about this same problem back in 2011/2012, and it has not been solved, apparently.
The workaround suggested back then was to disable screen lock when suspending, to prevent this from happening when resuming.
This is akin to having a problematic door lock, and suggesting leaving your house door open to avoid issues.
