Epiphany tabs are visually confusing

Looking at the tab page: because there is such a big gap between the tab title and the "x" button, my brain thinks the x is part of the left tab (depicted above). So everytime I look at the interface, it's not immediately obvious what's what. I have to actively think about it. In files, this is mitigated by having the x button fade away.
Also, since I mostly identify tabs by icon, and then by title, at least in the left-to-right part of the world, I want to see the title on the left.
Also, the Granite tabs seem to make themselves smaller when there are too many tabs in the bar, the Epiphany ones add some confusing arrows to the UI, making them that much more hard to use.
