Bug Description
Most mobile OSes have this built in. We need it too. What is this? The 00's?
Implementations can be seen in Prey AntiTheft (all done in BASH scripts).
GPS can be achieved by getting all wifi access points with signal strength and MAC address (iwlist scan), and using Google geolocation service (paid based on requests, won't fail), or Mozilla Ichnaea (free, fails 99% of the time).
Features:
- GPS
- Sound alarm (loud siren and something if you've misplaced it)
- Webcam capture
- Screenshot capture
- Message to thief
- Attempt to connect to safe open networks when in login screen to report location
- Terminal access for pr0z
If elementary were to do push notifications, this would be best to integrate through them. Else, constant server connection is recommended.
