No indication that a signing request is in progress

While clicking "sign package" puts a transient header on the page indicating that a signing request is in progress and to check back later, refreshing the page gives no indication that this request is (still) in progress.

What should happen:
A message should appear next to "Date signed" that says, "Signing requested. Please check back later." The "Sign package" button should be not present or greyed out.
