I found an awesome little GPL v2 GUI Python app that lets you crop JPEG images lossessly (that is to say, without the need for recompression) called CropGUI:

Still running Karmic on this machine, so don't know about the latest versions, but running dpkg-buildpackage makes a perfectly good DEB. The author provides a "debian" directory in the repository.
