Bug Description

Ubuntu 14.04 amd64 upgraded from 13.10 (upgrade chain over several versions)
Compiz 0.9.11+14.04.20140409-0ubuntu1
ccsm 0.9.11+14.04.20140409-0ubuntu1

My ccsm command line output starts with:

$ ccsm
compizconfig - Error: dlopen: /usr/lib/compizconfig/backends/libgconf.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
compizconfig - Warning: unable to open backend gconf, falling back to ini

... after which the profile loads and everything works correctly. Now the curious thing: since the upgrade I have a /compizconfig/backends/ directory (yes, at the root) which I'm fairly certain I did not create. It contains libgconf.so and other files found in /usr/lib/compizconfig/backends/ and I discovered it by locating for the libgconf.so mentioned in the error message above.

If I move this file to /usr/lib/compizconfig/backends/ then ccsm loads its profile without the missing .so error message, but segfaults after hanging for a second and Compiz will not start after logging in (borderless windows, no plugin functionality). Moving the file away fixes everything again, except for the ccsm error message.

Unless only my particular configuration tries to load the file and a clean install doesn't, something should be done about the error message (the gconf backend seems to be deprecated?). Also a more graceful reaction to the file being present.
