chef cookboook is not consistent

Bug Description
when we test adapter code change, we usually reset cobbler netboot flag, delete chef client and restart machine, I should work. But when the os version is changed, now chef use some node attributes which writes during cookbook run, and it is not consistent cross different oses. It causes the installation failing when I switch os from centos6 to ubuntu12. I amy not be a bug but cause potential inconsistency.
