Bug Description

Hi Dave !

To next Monday I've got my mother's PC at home. I had to rebuild it... The signatures are there (26.224) but it's impossible to scan the "home" file. After a short time, the windows appears in what it's written there is no virus - but the previous windows shows : "O file scanned".

System : X-UBUNTU 20.04 LTS (rebuilt on last Wed)
Clamtk version : 6.13
clamscan version = >103.2<

Have a nice day !

Hi Sab,

Let's try this to see if we can get more info:

open a terminal window

type "clamtk" without quotes

try to scan the home directory - duplicate what you were attempting

See if any information comes up in the terminal window. If so, please post back.

respectfully,
Dave M

Hi Dave,

As I previous mentioned :

Clamtk window was opened. I try to scan the Home directory. The new window indicated "Préparation", after few mn a new window was opened and indicated the scan is ended and had found nothing but 0 files have be scanned.

The terminal windows just indicate :

:~$ clamtk
clamscan version = >103.2<
:~$

Have a nice day !

Hi Sab,

Just to be clear, you did run it from the terminal window, right?

Is there anything different about the home drive? As in, is it encrypted or anything?

respectfully,
Dave M

Hi Dave,

Yes. I always do that when I meet trouble till the troubles are fixed.

Nothing new.

I remember that I meet this trouble when previous clamtk. I installed the clamtk-nautilus package and it was solved. Now this package didn't exist anylonger... then :(.

Hi Sab,

That package isn't the one I do - if you still have, I would remove it and use clamtk-gnome. There is a Downloads page from this one:

https://gitlab.com/dave_m/clamtk/-/wikis/home

Or you can use the github page for it where you can also get the downloads.

https://github.com/dave-theunsub/clamtk-gnome

Try this.

Hi Dave !

At gitlab links do you mean "in add-ons" ?

I've tried to install it from github, there is the answer :

$ sudo dpkg -i clamtk-gnome_0.03-1_all.deb
dpkg: erreur: cannot access archive 'clamtk-gnome_0.03-1_all.deb': Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type
:~$

Bon appétit!

Hi Dave!

I've installed the Gnome (0.05 for Python3 and Gtk3) from gitlab.

Trouble isn't fixed :(... but between "prparation" and "Analyse termine" it appeared "Analyse en cours" this time... is that mean I mean once again reboot the PC ?

Bon apptit!

Hi Sab,

Typically you shouldn't have to reboot. You could try logging out and back in again though.

Are there any regular files in your home directory, or are they all directories?

Dave M

Téléchargements
courrier\ a.pdf
Le\ petit.odt
Vidéos
Docum2222ent\ numérisé.pdf
Modèles
winehq.key
Documents
Musique
Images
Public

Hi Sab,

Can you try selecting just "Scan a file"? Or scan a different directory?

Also, let's try scanning something using the cmomandline. Like this:

clamscan la\ banque.odt

clamscan -r Documents

respectfully,
Dave M

Hi Dave,

clamscan -r Documents

is running normally.

Hi Sab,

Ok, if that's working normally, try to scan that directory with ClamTk.

If that works, then there's something about the home directory that's causing an issue.

Dave M

Hi Sab,

Well that's kind of good news. :)

Ok, let's try two things:

1. Please ensure your settings allow for recursive scanning (maybe "Analyser les dossiers récursivement"?). Also, enable EVERYTHING in your settings, just to be sure. Then try scanning the home directory.

2. Let's try scanning your home directory with clamscan.

clamscan -r -i ~

respectfully,
Dave M

Hi Dave,

I just tried to scan the $user directory... it's scanned not all the directory but only the first files...

I try explaining better (excuse me for my lack of english language in that matter).
In this directory the result is :

ClamTk, v6.13
Sat Jul 10 14:41:31 2021
Signatures ClamAV : 8558865
Dossiers analysés :

0 virus potentiel(s) trouvé(s) menaces (5 fichiers analysés).

Aucune menace trouvée.

However in that directory there are :
12 hidden directories
+ 8 directories
+12 hidden files
+ 5 files

Hi Dave!

I don't have "solved" in status...

I've got choice between "incomplete", "Opinion", "Invalid", "Confirmed", "in progress", "Fix commited" and "Fix released".
