Bug Description

When moving HTML blocks of code around with the mouse in chrome's dev-tools the window manager in GNOME seems to crash (window borders dissapear), and I'm sent to the log in screen. After logging in all gnome extensions have been disabled.

This also happens in other chromium-based browsers with the same dev-tools.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open chrome or a chromium-based browser
2. Open developer tools (f12 or CTRL+ALT+i)
3. Go to the elements tab, with the html code visible
4. Grab a HTML element like <body> or <div> with the mouse and move/drag it around.
5. Should crash instantly after grabbing element.

As a dev doing some web works, this is an annoyed bug. At the beginning I used Vivaldi and had same problem, this forced me to switch back to Chrome, this bug is now happening again. I'm on Ubuntu GNOME 16.04.

+1 Been having issue for a while now.

Gnome: 3.18.5 (or possibly 3.18.4)
Chrome: 55.0.2883.87 (64 bit)
Ubuntu: 16.04

Any chance it's the same as https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=762038 (marked duplicate of https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=765058)?

As a workaround: it seems that installing a newer Gnome (3.20.4) from the gnome3-team/gnome3-staging PPA fixes the issue for me.
