As our followup via Email denoted, the charm has been promulgated as a trusty charm, moved from the original Precise mark. There is a follow up item that we have ot address with backporting the charm changes to precise - however this may impact a number of deployments as it removes several configuration options present in the existing Precise series charm. As this is a first for me, this warrants further discussion but should not hinder the progress of the ElasticSearch charm.
