function core.hookenv.log does not work if message starts with dashes

Bug Description
If a message passed to the log function begins with multiple dashes, for example "-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----", it will get misinterpreted as an additional argument to the juju-log command and it will throw:
ERROR option provided but not defined
