The bug happened on Mako, running rc-proposed (r225), and with silo-000 added as of today (Aug. 26). I was observing similar results 2 weeks ago. I am using a slimport bought ~2 years ago and which was tested functional at the time of Ubuntu for Android.

FWIW, the monitor is a Dell with a DVI to HDMI adapter. I have observed the same results when connecting to an HDTV with a direct HDMI link.

I see this too on my Samsung monitor and my HD TV, only part of the screen is taken (see screenshot) AND the UI is sometimes in portrait mode (on my TV).

I tried on mako with rc-proposed (r435). It is a total game changer compared to previous tests !

Yet, my DELL 19" keeps on sticking to a gross resolution (640 or phone display native?), whereas the TV set displays a nice HD/1080p desktop.
