battery status and animation unreliable

Bug Description
meizu mx4 ubuntu fully updated August 8.
Ever since first charging the animated curve and the corresponding percentage as numbered, has beem totally unreliable. It indicated fully charged suddenly after 30 minutes charging. Then when disconnected it reports 98%. Then shortly it drops randomly further down - without any use at all.
Connecting the charger changes the percentage again. By now I have no clue whether it has ever been totally charged.
It seems like its finished charging as the charger and the phone gets cold after reporting 100 percent.
I have no idea whether this is a hardware defect, meaning I should return the device or if it is software related and will be fixed in a leter systemupdate.
I read about several users having same problem but cant find the posts again - except for one that relates overheating to cpu-consuming processes.
I looked it up in Top in terminal - no proces seem to be faulty.

Apart from this and other bugs (not surprising) - the phone is excellent. Im sure it will succeed!
