Bug Description

Hello, I am running byobu on Debian Stretch. I am running byobu version 5.87, with Screen version 4.03.01 (GNU) 28-Jun-15. Please see below for the contents of ~/.byobu/status.

I am experiencing input lag while using byobu. Unlike in a multiplexer-free terminal or in vanilla screen, each key press takes a maybe a quarter second to happen (that's a very rough estimate). To say the least, this is making byobu really difficult to use.

This happens on a fresh run of byobu, but doesn't always seem to happen (though it has gotten frequent lately).

Thanks,
    Zachary Braun

I had this issue, as well, on macOS. I disabled some of the status notifications that appear with the default settings of byobu-screen and the lag disappeared.
