Bug Description

Hi,

I was trying to install ubuntu 12.04 i386 while I got this kernel panic. I tried installing kubuntu 12.04 but got the same error. ubuntu 10.04, 11.04, mint 12 works on this acer 5002 (turion 64) machine. Whats wrong this time?

ubuntu

kubuntu

To add on, I created the usb flash boot disk with unetbootin. I did a hash check on iso and check with boot menu. Both succeeded well.

This error comes right after a message about the brodcom wireless chip drivers. That the drivers are needed to be download.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/990879/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

There aren't any log files as this is live usb disk which fails booting up.

Ashish: Please go ahead and run the apport-collect command from another version that is working (running from the USB stick is fine). This will at least give us your hardware configuration.

I overlooked the comment about this coming right after the broadcom driver message. I'm almost certain this is a duplicate of bug #950295, so I'm going to mark it as such.
