Bug Description

Hello,

I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 from 11.10 and I had a few issues with Gnome, it wouldnt load and I found out it was an issue with libclutter (I had built the package manually and it hadnt been upgraded), after removing it and re-installing everything that depended on it I managed to get it working with the following exceptions:
 - When highlighting by dragging the mouse, the cursor seems to skip over parts or reset itself, highlighting in general is just not possible
 - Tab switching in gedit doesnt always work, the new tab doesnt get selected most of the time and even if it does sometimes the text below it isnt refreshed until I scroll or ctrl-a it.

They seem to be rendering issues but reproducing them can be difficult as it sometimes works fine.

I am using official Nvidia drivers, but switching between official and Ubuntu drivers didnt help.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Many Thanks

Thank you for your bug report, does it happen in a guest session? Could you take a screenshot of the issue?

Its a little hard to screenshot the issue.. Imagine clicking on a tab to open another document but nothing happens until you scroll, then the page updates but the tab doesnt until you resize the window. It "looks fine" on a screenshot, but isnt working as intended

To clarify: these issues are purely graphical. If I swap to another window or do anything that would cause the screen to "re-draw" then it fixes itself, its just that switching tabs doesnt cause the screen to re-draw.

I originally posted this as a question but was directed here to bug report it.
I'm not convinced this is an issue with Gedit itself, but perhaps an issue with my installation.

If there is a way to view all packages gedit depends on for drawing, I could re-install them and see if that fixes anything..

Many Thanks,
James

I can confirm this problem on my own 12.04 installation.

Well, for me it is just the white highlight color in gedit. It really makes gedit unusable...

I can also confirm this problem with gedit tabs on 12.04 with Nvidia 319.32.
