Bug Description

The shortcuts to left or right align a window at 50% width and maximum height (ctrl-alt-numpad4, ctrl-alt-numpad6) do not work in Precise's Unity. Ctrl-alt-numpad5 doesn't work as expected either.

I am seeing Ctrl+Alt+4/6 doing nothing on a multiple monitor setup. Note that Super+Left and Super+Right work correctly to produce the intended effects.

Ctrl+Alt+5 normally fully maximises the window for me, but it sometimes produces strange effects.

Tim, do you have one monitor or more than one?

Same behaviour as reply #1 above.

Unity: 5.6.0-0ubuntu4, nvidia graphics card, checked with num lock on and off. Ctrl+Alt+numpad5 works ok. Single monitor

Same thing here.
CN896/VN896/P4M900 [Chrome 9 HC] onboard graphics (only does Unity 2D), single monitor, does (or doesn't do) the same thing with numlock on or off.

This appears to be an intentional decision by Unity design to change the shortcuts in 12.04:
    Ctrl+Alt+4 --> Super+Left
    Ctrl+Alt+6 --> Super+Right
This is described in bug 751050.

If you would like the old behaviour, please run "ccsm", scroll down to "Grid" and change the keybindings.

Thanks for providing the link to Bug 751050. However, the bug talks about implementing additional keybindings - there is no talk of removing existing shortcuts.

@vanvugt; these keybindings are supposed to be in addition to the Ctrl+Alt keybindings, see bug #878820

However I have been told that compiz currently only supports a maximum of 1 keybinding per action, so first we have to add support to compiz for more than 1 keybinding per action.

I have marked this bug as a dupe of #878820
