Network manager shows too many windows on gnome shell

Bug Description

When connection goes down and network manager cannot reconnect its start openning passwords windows, after some minutes there is hundreds of windows opened.

I have this problem with two different computers, both using gnome shell

(see attachment for a small example with 11 windows )

This is most likely a duplicate of another bug; just need to put them all back together ;)

This is a known issue with network connections when the passphrase is not accepted by the remote system; after a rescan the connection will be auto-activated again.

Can anyone suggest an easy way to close all the windows in one go as a workaround for now?

wrt auto-activation, would simply looking for an existing nm-applet authentication prompt being displayed for that connection + credential set and focusing on that (or notifying) be a simple way to reduce the number of windows?

and for finding the original, any suggestions on where to look?
