Bug Description
The following two lines are from two instances of this, which is 100% repeatable simply by moving the mouse over the volume icon in the unity panel.

The system is running and enforced Unity 2D even though standard Unity is chosen on login. This is clearly due to running on a dual monitor configuration.

I should have added that this started immediately after libgtk-3-bin:i386 (3.2.0-0ubuntu3, 3.2.0-0ubuntu4) was updated when I installed it on Start-Date: 2012-01-24 15:06:16, so there is clearly a change in this package that is triggering the fault.
