package spacenavd (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed pre-removal script was killed by signal (Terminated)

At some point the spacenavd service crashed & the pre-removal script failed because it was unable to stop the service, which was already stopped.
Restarting the service & then dpkg -r fixed the problem
